New Mexico Museum of Art - Vladem Contemporary

The Vladem Contemporary is the New Mexico Museum of Art’s second location. Serving as a cultural resource and hub for creativity & education, the museum will showcase New Mexico’s art for an anticipated 60,000 annual visitors.

The project brought a 15,000sf addition above an existing 20,000sf building erected in 1936. The building now houses a nearly 4,000sf main gallery on the first level, a 3,000sf gallery and artist studio on the second level, as well as collection & cold storage, a courtyard, and a rooftop terrace.

Neighboring the Jean Cocteau Cinema and the Rail Runner’s Santa Fe Depot, the Vladem Contemporary is part of the Railyard Arts District - home to many art galleries in an old industrial zone a few blocks southwest of Santa Fe’s downtown plaza. The museum is well-lit by abundant borrowed light via clerestories and continuous skylights, and features gorgeous views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains from the rooftop terrace.

MCH provided acoustical consulting services including complex issues regarding exterior noise control.
