MIT Stata Center
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
MIT's Ray and Maria Stata Center is home to: Computer Science & Artificial Intelligence Laboratory, Electrical Engineering & Computer Sciences, Laboratory for Information & Decision Systems, and Linguistics & Philosophy. The Center also houses an auditorium, four classrooms, Student Street including a child-care facility, a food services facility, a fitness center, and outdoor gathering spaces with two levels of below grade parking and a service facility. The Center is a model for technologically supported education and a modern incubator for new ideas and technology.
MCH proivded full-scope acoustical and audiovisual consulting for this very demanding project where all the tenets of good acoustical design were severely tested at every curve and corner by the architecture. Raised flooring throughout provides air and power and enormous flexibility. MCH met all the highly unconventional challenges with a combination of its experience and unique modeling tools.
